Besides a Physical Examination, There Are No Specific Tests for Trigeminal Neuralgia

A physical examination by a doctor can help determine which part of the trigeminal nerve is misfiring, but there are no actual tests to diagnose this problem.

However, it is important to rule out other possible conditions. This is done based on medical history, the examination, and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the head.
