Long Term Effects of Marijuana

There is a lot of information in the news concerning marijuana being good for some medical conditions, the benefits for all through taxing legal marijuana, and the decrease in violent crimes with marijuana users.

One would almost think we are crazy to not immediately make marijuana a daily staple in our lives, just like vegetables and fruits.

However, no one has taken a look at the long term medical consequences of marijuana. Isn't it time this occurs, or should our nation only study the long term effects, as it did with tobacco use--too late for so many.

Therefore, it is of vital interest that one study assumed responsibility for reviewing the long term implications of marijuana.

A summary of the literature surveyed over the past 40 or more years indicated the following:

1. an increase in cough,
2. an increase in wheezing,
3. an increase in sputum

While not conclusive, all of the above are related to obstructive pulmonary disease.
