Screening for cancer has decreased the growth rate of this devastating disease significantly. Colonoscopies

Death from colon cancer has dropped from 57,000 in 2000 to 53,580 in 2004 according ot the CDC. This decrease is related to the increased screenings for colon cancer.

Melanoma: Testing

The only widely proposed screening procedure for melanomatous skin cancer is visual examination of the skin, including both self examination and clinical examination. If a screening test result for melanoma is abnormal, you may need to have diagnostic tests done to find out if you have cancer.
