Depression

Depression is a serious illness that can take a variety of forms. In fact, there are no less than nine different kinds of depression officially recognized by the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th ed., published by the American Psychiatric Association.

A June, 2006 study reported in the journal Maternal and Child Health, explores the failure of pediatricians to identify maternal depression, despite its high prevalence and its negative consequences for children.
