This chiildren's disease occurs in stages and usually goes away unless complications arise. It begins with a fever, frequently higher than 104 F (39 C) that spikes and remits and lasts one to two weeks. Four out of five of these symptoms should be present for a diagnosis of Kawasaki Disease.
Extremely red eyes (conjunctivitis) without a discharge
A rash on the main part of the body and in the genital area
Red, dry, cracked lips and an extremely red, swollen tongue
Swollen, red skin on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet
Swollen lymph nodes in the neck
After these subside, a second set of symptoms appear.
