Treatment for Congestive Heart Failure

A failing heart can be strengthened with treatment. There are currently three major types:

  • Medication - this is the most common form of treatment, usually involving more than one medication
  • Surgery and Medical Devices - this option is to treat the underlying cause of the heart failure, and includes heart replacement surgery when heart failure is too severe to respond to any other treatment
  • Experimental Treatments
