Endometriosis is painful and chronic. The tissue that lines the uterus is called the endometrium. When this tissue develops outside the uterus, for example, on the ovaries, the bladder, bowel, vagina, in surgical scars in the abdomen, and other places that it should not be found, it responds in the same way as endometrial tissue in the uterus, but in this case, the menstural blood cannot leave the body. The internal bleeding that results is the cause of the pain associated with endometriosis.
