Hey Ya'll..

My name is Shelly and I am new to this board. I was diagnosed in the fall of 2007 with Type 2.I have recently tried to kick my caffeine habit and am looking for something to help me stay energized. By mid day I want to fall asleep at my desk. I was wondering what sorts of things ya'll do. I have tested my levels when I get that tired and they come back fine. I tend to drink to much coffee and soda so I am trying to find a better alternative. Anyone have any suggestions?

if you cut off caffeine completely (as I have) those mid-day slumps will diminish... if after 30 to 45 days without caffeine they are still severe, you'll need to make deeper changes in your lifestyle - maybe more sleep, may be more frequent smaller meals. Maybe more protein and fat in your diet and less carbohydrates... these are the things I have done for my sugar control problems.

there is also a great book you should read called 'the power of full engagement - managing energy, not time is the key to high performance and personal renewal' by jim loehr

thank you Eric. What a nice guy you are to respond to me and offer your insight. My cousin who also has Type 2 gave me a couple packs of this Energy drink called ReStore when I mentioned to him my need to stay awake during work. He also had to kick his caffeine habit and a co worker of his recommended the drink to him. He said he tried it and now he swears by it..whatever that mean. LOL. Well I tried it yesterday and had some more this morning. So far so good and no jitters. Before I go and recommend it to anyone else I am going to see how today goes and then try again tomorrow. I will come back here and let you know what I thkink. The package says no sugar, no caffeine, no stimulants and low glyemic index. It is specifically for Diabetics. Sounds good to me but is it too good to be true. I will let you know :)

FYI- I tried it and its been two weeks and I have given up my caffeine without a problem. I am sort of in shock to be honest. I thought it would be a lot harder to kick the habit. Its called ReStore and is a Diabetes Energy Formula. I just got my boxes in the mail because my cousin refused to give me any more of his . Now I just have to quit smoking and I may actually have something!! LOL
