Despite the fact that most sinus infections are viral related, antibiotics are presecribed the great majority of times. The over-prescription of antibiotics has grave consequences. In the future, when antibiotics may really be required, perhaps to save your life, the 'bugs' will have become resisitant.
Additionally, it seems to be the more potent antibiotics which are presecribed for sinusitis.
What would help? Saline irrigations, and hot packs!
