Testing and Diagnosing Endometrial Cancer

According to the Mayo Clinic, testing starts with a full gynecological examination. Further testing for a diagnosis can include:

  • Pap test
  • Endometrial biopsy
  • Dilation and curettage (D and C)
  • Transvaginal ultrasound

If cancer of the endometrium is found, you'll likely be referred to a gynecologic oncologist for more tests to determine if the cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastasis).

Once a diagnosis of endometrial cancer is confirmed, the doctor will want to "stage" the cancer.
