The Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association

The Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association, CHASA, is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization incorporated in Texas in 1999 to provide assistance, information and counseling to families of children who have hemiplegia, hemiparesis, or childhood stroke.

CHASA is operated by five mothers of children who have hemiplegia or pediatric stroke. CHASA is a small, grass roots organization and operates without a paid staff.

CHASA services:

  • a 300+ page website
  • a listserve with over 800 members
  • an annual retreat and medical conference for families of children who have hemiplegia
  • walkathon fundraisers
  • local family events
  • family retreat scholarships and college scholarships for young adults who have hemiplegia or are pediatric stroke survivors
  • founded and promotes Childhood Stroke Awareness Day, the first Saturday in May

Membership: The CHASA bylaws state that the organization has no members.
