Carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated in several different ways.
For temporary relief:
- take more frequent hand-rest breaks
- apply cold packs to reduce occasional swelling
Other Treatment Options include wrist splinting, medications and surgery.
Nonsurgical therapy
- Wrist splinting
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS)
- Corticosteroids
Surgery
In all accepted surgical procedures, the doctor cuts the ligament pressing on the nerve.
Surgery usually results in marked improvement, but may also result in some residual numbness, pain, stiffness or weakness.
