Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis is the most common form of arthritis in children, but the exact cause is unknown.
What is known is that JRA is an auto-immune disorder. This means that the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the tissues it is supposed to protect. In the case of arthritis, the attack is directed against the synovium (the lining of the joints), which becomes inflamed.
