Signs and Symptoms of Cushing's Syndrome

Generally, the symptoms of Cushing's Syndrome include:

  • upper body obesity
  • rounded face
  • increased fat around the neck
  • thinning arms and legs
  • obesity with slowed growth rates in children
  • fragile and thin skin that bruises easily and heals poorly
  • purplish pink stretch marks that may appear on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms and breasts
  • weak bones, leading to backaches, rib and spinal column fractures from routine activities
  • severe fatigue
  • weak muscles
  • high blood pressure
  • high blood sugar
  • irritability, anxiety and depression are common

Specific Symptoms in Women

  • excess hair growth on the face, neck, chest, abdomen, and thigh
  • irregular or no menstrual period

Specific Symptoms in Men

  • decreased fertility
  • diminished or absent desire for sex
